George Community Hall

George, Washington's Community Center


The purpose of the George Community Hall in George, WA:

  • To provide a place where community events and social gatherings can comfortably occur
  • To promote the arts and culture in George, WA
  • To carry on the traditions begun by our city founders, Charles and Edith Brown

The George Community Hall is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and it exists for the benefit and enjoyment of George, WA, residents as well as the Quincy Valley at large. It is overseen by a Board of Directors, who also function as volunteer event directors on behalf of the City of George for the grand July 4 Celebration, the monthly CoffeeHouse concert series, and the Annual Bluegrass Festival every September.


News!  The George Community Hall is a 2026 recipient of a $10,000 community outreach grant from Microsoft Corporation.  Thank you for this awesome support of the events and efforts of the George Community Hall!

Monday 9/14 - Set up Camp, then Jam! Early Bird Camping begins at NOON. DRY CAMPING ONLY. Limited number of electrical hook-ups available at $25 for the week – see Camp Host

 

Tuesday 9/15 – Biscuits & Gravy Welcome Breakfast hosted by Terri & Bob Jones

All-day Jamming!

 

Wednesday 9/16 -

9:00-10:30 - Gospel Pancake Breakfast at the pavilion, hosted by Betty & Darryl Lampinen     

                       Cost: either sing a gospel song or listen to one!

7:00 pm –Jam with Rocky Ford Band upstairs at the GCH Concert Room. 

 

Thursday 9/17 -

1:15 pm - George Elementary School Students Field Trip/Bluegrass Experience (NOTE: Campers, be prepared to participate onstage with kid-friendly tunes for this very enthusiastic audience!)

4 pm – Open Mic on stage (sign-up required)

5 pm – Open Mic on stage (sign-up required)

6 pm - All-Camp Potluck at the Pavilion

 

Fri. 9/18 - Emcee for this weekend is Betty Lampinen (A.K.A. Olga, A.K.A. Ella Dean, A.K.A. April Butcher, A.K.A Harmony Wind …you never know!)

1:30 pm - Open Mic on outdoor stage (sign-up required)

2:45 pm – Open Mic on outdoor stage (sign-up required)

4 pm -  Farmstrong on outdoor stage 

5:30 pm – The Campground Boys on outdoor stage

7 pm - Home-made Pie & Ice Cream Social - front porch patio at the Community Hall

8:00 pm - Open Mic onstage at the GCH Concert Room (sign-up required)

10 am - Banjo Workshop Led by Bob Martin of the Campground Boys at Jam Circle at the Pavilion

         - Bass Workshop Led by John Pyles of Farmstrong upstairs at the George Community Hall

         - Mandolin Workshop Led by Ruben Taylor and Pete Goodall of the Campground Boys downstairs at GCH

11 am - Songwriting Workshop Led by Jim Faddis of Farmstrong, downstairs at the GCH

         - Dobro Workshop Led by Rick Meade of Farmstrong, at Jam Circle at the Pavilion

         - Tenor-Baritone Vocals Workshop Led by Robbie Bennett of Campground Boys, upstairs at the GCH

Noon until 2:00 - Open Mic on outdoor stage (sign-up required)

2:30 pm –  McKean Family Fiddlers on outdoor stage

4 pm – The Campground Boys on outdoor stage

5:30 pm – Farmstrong on outdoor stage

Our FIRST FRIDAY JAM, happening (oddly enough) on the First Friday of every month, has become the gathering place for musicians and vocalists to play in community, and for audiences to practice music appreciation! 

It's home-grown music at its funnest!
