And Just What is a CoffeeHouse?

The term, "CoffeeHouse" hearkens back to the 1950's beatnik era, when small urban cafes and coffeehouses became music and poetry venues for the likes of Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan and so many others.

The George, Washington version of the CoffeeHouse carries on the innovative music venue idea, mixing it with a bit of small-town, rural charm.

Begun in 2004, our CoffeeHouse features a range of Americana including Bluegrass, Classic Country, vintage Cowboy, Rhythm & Blues, plus maybe a little old-time Rock & Roll!  We love featuring bands that are local to the Pacific Northwest, and we do it in a way that is family-friendly, encouraging young and old alike to enjoy the music!

More often than not, our start time is 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 for best seating.  The cost of admission is just $5 and kids age 12 and under get to attend for FREE.  We do a hat-pass for the musicians, and the suggested donation for this is $10-$12 per person.  At half-time everyone is invited downstairs for a cookie and of course, coffee break (because, well, it's a COFFEEHOUSE, after all).  Then, back to the concert room we go for the second set of music.  It's a great cheap date, family outing or girls night out!

Home-Grown Music!

Music Jams

Our FIRST FRIDAY JAM, happening (oddly enough) on the First Friday of every month, has become the gathering place for musicians and vocalists to play in community, and for audiences to practice music appreciation!

It's home-grown music at its funnest!

New Paragraph

Our THIRD FRIDAY BEGINNERS' JAM, is for less-experienced musicians who want to learn to play nicely with others!

Bring your instrument, a music stand if you have one, lyrics with chords of whatever songs you want the group to learn,

and a smile!

We begin at 7 pm, every Third Friday.   More experienced musicians are invited as well; be prepared to help someone learn something new with their instrument or voice.  An audience is always welcome at this jam, too!
